Snake Chairs & Stools
When Poul Henningsen introduced his steel pipe furniture in 1932 to the "Copenhagen" conference in Fredericia – the industrial design exhibition in Denmark at the time – he received high praise for his minimalist and durable design. Poul Henningsen's design concept – based on fluid spirals and dynamic movements – is a constant recurring theme in his work. Both in the design for furniture but also in relation to lamps, houses and in PH's exhibition architecture.
The design of the PH Snake Chair and PH Snake Stool is compact yet strong, due to the spiral shape of the frame that resembles that of a coiled snake. Featuring sensuous fluid lines realised in the smoothest of chromed steel and devoid of harsh angles, the PH Snake Chair and PH Snake Stool sits harmoniously with the widest variety of interiors.
Originally stood alongside Poul Henningsen's iconic PH Grand Piano and in an old brochure material from the early 1930s, the PH Snake Chair was depicted in an entire bedroom environment with chromed steel pipe furniture designed by Poul Henningsen. The PH Snake Chair fits into every room: In the house, in the apartment, in the office, and is not just a functional piece of furniture but a work of art that can be admired for generations to come.
